Animals are tools, they must function. As far as Joe the dogbreeder goes, young Donal’s beloved greyhound is only good if it can win. The old man will not recoil from using harsh punishment if the animal does not perform according to his wishes. One day the dog is up against the wall and Donal’s relationship with Joe is put to the ultimate test. While saving a dog’s life is the prime issue, there is much more at stake. When Donal’s real father suddenly appears on the scene, Joe’s surrogate role is challenged. He doesn’t like sharing and violently tries to hold on to what little is left of his relationship to Donal. It has been simmering in the Northern Irish hills – and now it’s beginning to boil. Who is going to win?
